Somerset’s Support and Information for Families: Signposting and Guidance in Neurodiversity

Assessment is not the key to accessing support in Somerset – our approach is entirely needs-led. Help and guidance are available, regardless of the stage of assessment

Children and Young People’s Neurodevelopmental Partnership (CYPNP). Whilst waiting to be assessed, families may require additional support, information, and advice via CYPNP Telephone Advice Line Tel: 0303 033 3002 (Monday, 1pm - 4pm, Wednesday and Thursday, 9am - 12pm). 

Somerset’s Autism and ADHD Pathway provides information, resources and guidance for families navigating autism and ADHD services in Somerset.

Somerset Parent Carer Forum CIC Ltd run by parents and carers for families of children and young people with additional needs in Somerset. The Forum offers peer support, information, and workshops.

WISE Up Workshops deliver a variety of workshops aimed at supporting parents, carers, and professionals. Topics include understanding special educational needs, managing behaviour, and supporting emotional wellbeing.

Somerset SENDIAS Information, Advice, and Support service (SENDIAS) offers free, confidential and impartial advice to children, young people, and their families regarding education, health, and social care.

HANDi Paediatric App

The HANDi paediatric app gives up-to-date advice about common childhood illnesses and how to treat them. You should not rely on the app in identifying appropriate care for yout child.

HANDi has been developed by the paediatric team at Musgrove Park Hospital to provide expert support to parents, carers and medical professionals looking after children with the most common childhood illnesses:

  • Diarrhoea and vomiting
  • Chesty child (wheeze and asthma)
  • Chesty baby (bronchiolitis)
  • High temperature
  • Abdominal pain
  • Common newborn problems

It is available to download from the App Store or Google Play
